Originally from hilly Devon, Moira now lives in the flatlands of the Cambridgeshire Fens with her husband and teenage son. After graduating from Maidstone School of Art, she worked for many years as an illustrator in editorial and adult publishing markets in the UK, Europe and the USA. A long-held ambition to write and illustrate for children led her to study on the MA in Children’s Book illustration at Cambridge School of Art which she graduated from in 2022. Two of her student book projects were Highly Commended in the Macmillan Prize and selected for the Dpictus Unpublished Picturebook Showcase at Bologna Book Fair.

She works digitally, combining her pencil drawings with stamped and printed textures to create bold graphic artwork in Photoshop. Colour has always been a strong feature of her illustration practice and in her latest work she has explored the use of limited palettes to evoke a screen printed technique.

She is also passionate about giving children opportunities to be creative and she has a community arts practice delivering art workshops to young people. As an avid collector of vintage ceramics, books and ephemera, she can often be found rummaging at charity shops for more ‘treasure’ to add to her heaving shelves!
