Marx Fidel is a Manila-based illustrator and visual arts teacher easily drawn to remarkable stories that make him pause and think—whether they’re mild and mundane or wild and fantastical.
A sketch of a house his dad drew when he was four years old ultimately sparked his love of drawing. What appeared to be a simple sketch at the time ended up shaping his future career in art. He now works primarily in digital format but still loves using pencils, ink, and watercolor—especially as he works to be more consistent with his sketchbooks. Marx graduated from Mapúa University in 2019 with a degree in BS Multimedia Arts and Sciences. He is also a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), the Philippines’ premier organization for children’s book illustrators.
These days, he balances his time between creating narrative-driven illustrations and nurturing young kids’ love for visual arts.
