Luke Newell is an award-winning Illustrator, animator and author based in Hertfordshire, UK. With over forty children’s books to his name, spanning both fiction and non-fiction, he has worked with major publishers including Hachette, Scholastic, Little Tiger, and Oxford University Press.

Rhinoceros Can’t Draw, published by Noodle Juice, won the 2024 Week Junior Book Award (Hobbies & Interests category), with its follow-up, Orangutan Can’t Draw Comics, currently touring alongside him in animation and storytelling workshops across theatres, libraries and public venues. His next author-illustrated picture book is set for publication in 2026.

Beyond publishing, Luke’s illustration work extends into animation and direction for both character-led marketing and corporate B2B projects. His clients include Adobe, DHL, MTV, and GSK, among others. His creative versatility is rooted in over a decade as a Concept Artist at PlayStation’s London Studio, where he contributed to seven AR/VR game titles and received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2013 for his work on Wonderbook.
