Jemma Jamie Skidmore is a British-Canadian picture book illustrator and author based in Gloucestershire.

She specialises in creating work that reflects young readers’ experiences, helping them make sense of their own lives while juxtaposing them with fantastical worlds, characters, and scenarios. Her love of nature, folklore, and magic infuses every piece, adding depth and wonder to her storytelling and illustration.

Jemma studied Fine Art at Falmouth University in Cornwall before building a career in the film and TV industry in London and Vancouver. She has been illustrating full-time since 2021.

Throughout her career, she has worked with a wide range of clients, including BBC, Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV, Simon & Schuster, Oxford University Press, and Galison.

From her Gloucester studio, Jemma primarily works with acrylic gouache, creating intricate, hand-painted artworks that retain a fluid, tactile quality,
