Salat in Secret selected as a 2024 Bank Street Best Children's Books of the Year

Salat in Secret, written by Jamila Thompkins-Bigelow and illustrated by Hatem Aly, has been selected as a Bank Street Best Children’s Books of the Year - This list includes over 600 titles, 51 of which are Random House Children’s Books! These titles have been selected by the Children’s Book Committee as the best books published in 2023. In choosing books for the annual list, committee members consider literary quality and excellence of presentation as well as the potential emotional impact of the books on young readers. Other criteria include credibility of characterization and plot, authenticity of time and place, age suitability, positive treatment of ethnic and religious differences, and the absence of stereotypes.
