Which piece did you enjoy creating the most and why?

I particularly enjoyed creating the piece for Max Pete’s article - How to stand out with your story, as I usually like working on fuller scenes, with many details. The article explores the benefits of making your work more unique by sharing your own story and encouraging people to engage on a more personal level.

Can you talk us through your creative process for a project like this?

I usually start by carefully reading the article and seeing what ideas come to mind. While reading, I make a few quick roughs, exploring different visual compositions. After choosing the one that best suits the project, I work on a final rough to send to the client.

What did you enjoy most about working on this project?

I enjoyed the subjects the articles explore - freelance life and balance, career change, networking and sustainable web. Additionally, it was my first commissioned illustration project made entirely on Procreate. I started exploring Procreate a few months ago, and it is becoming one of my favourite apps to work with.

What’s your favourite thing to illustrate?

I like to work on maps with lots of little details, and would love to work on more map projects. Landscapes, houses and ballet dancers are also some of my favourite things for smaller pieces. I really enjoy illustrating interesting books and articles, and would love to write and illustrate my own stories!

What one piece of advice would you give to an aspiring artist?

Draw every day and experiment with different techniques and media. Technology has changed illustration so much! I wouldn’t be surprised if many more new tools appear in the future. Having fun trying them out and learning how to use them is a must.
