Dan Taylor to Illustrate Chasten Buttigieg's Debut Picture Book: PAPA'S COMING HOME

We’re so excited to share that Bright artist Dan Taylor will be illustrating Chasten Buttigieg’s debut children’s picture book PAPA’S COMING HOME, set to publish in May 2025 by Penguin Kids. The book follows siblings JoJo and Rosie, who are anxiously waiting for their father to return home. As they wait for his return, Daddy helps them bake a cake, make signs, and pick up flowers. When they go pick up Papa from the airport with all of their gifts, they realize there is no room in the car for Papa! Chasten based this story on his own family – his husband Pete Buttigieg is the United States secretary of transporation, and their children, twins Penelope and Gus.
In this People interview, Chasten shared that while having plenty of books for his children, he noticed that none of them looked like their family. He says, “I wanted my kids to see themselves in this story.” Pre-orders are available now! Dan is represented by Susan Penny.
