Jonty Howley

Jonty Howley is an author and illustrator from West Sussex in the UK.

Jonty grew up in a tiny village in Surrey with his mum, dad, sister and four cats. From a young age he found comfort in escaping into created worlds through drawing and imagination, and continues this passion in his work today.

He studied illustration at the University of the Arts, London, has worked professionally as an animator and designer, and now works as an illustrator and author of children’s books.

Jonty’s work is characterised by emotional richness, bold colours, rich texture and the use of traditional materials.

Jonty’s books have received critical acclaim, been featured in the 2023 SOI The Original Art exhibition, and been translated into languages all over the world.

His books are published with Random House Studio, Random House Children’s Books, Flying Eye Books and Happy Yak.
