Galia Bernstein was born and raised in Israel and lives in Brooklyn, New York having studied at Parsons School of Design at the New School. She is both a full time illustrator and author and a textile designer and creator of ceramics. Her debut author/illustrated picture book, “I Am a Cat”, was published by Abrams and has been published in 15 foreign languages around the world with 3 starred reviews. Her other author-illustrated books, LEYLA and The Pumpernickel-Daffodil were published by Abram.

Galia has a passion for animal life and loves both non-fiction research and fictional story narratives and has illustrated books for Macmillan, Candlewick Press, Greenwillow/Harper, Random House and Holiday House.
