Lola Idowu is a Nigerian-born, UK-based illustrator working across children’s publishing, editorial and commercial illustration. Self-taught, she creates character-driven artwork that blends bold colour, warmth and expressive storytelling, with a strong focus on identity, emotion and imagination.
Inspired by fantasy literature, world-building and everyday moments, Lola’s work often places Black women at the centre of the narrative — portrayed as powerful, soft and complex. Working primarily in digital media with a hand-drawn feel, she creates illustrations that are warm, empowering and story-led, aiming to reflect the kind of representation she wanted to see growing up.
