Bright Artist Sarah Green at The New York Times!

Artist Sarah Green has recently illustrated a book about the world famous photographer, Dorothea Lange, which was published by Albert Whitman & Co on February 28, 2017. In celebration of Women’s History month, Sarah was asked to take part in a live illustration session on The New York Times Facebook page. During the event, Sarah created some wonderful art on-the-spot while speaking with Maria Russo, Children’s Book Editor at The New York Times.

Katy Hudson was raised in Middlesbrough, England and started her illustration career as a small child drawing on freshly painted walls around the house. Her parents quickly dissuaded this medium and encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead. Obsessed with drawing animals and telling stories, the idea stuck (the pencil was updated to an ink pot and pen in some cases), and after some lovely time at art college, where she earned a degree in Illustration, Katy is now a freelance illustrator based in London.

Dave Mottram lives in Ohio with his wife, daughter and black lab, Gracie. He drew so much as kid, he would occasionally run out of paper. There were paper bags filled with Dave’s art all over the house. Still drawing after all these years, he now enjoys watching his daughter draw all the time. The circle continues! His latest book, Race Car Dreams published with Running Press Kids in September 2016.

Fiona Woodcock and Hiding Heidi take New York City!

Continuing the massive success of the Hiding Heidi launch at The Bright Emporium in London in July, Bright author and illustrator Fiona Woodcock traveled to New York to promote the US debut of the book, published stateside in November 2016 by Little Bee Books. Young Hiding Heidi fans gathered at Stories Bookshop + Storytelling Lab in Brooklyn for a reading of the book and a fun arts & crafts project to round out the lovely morning celebration and book launch.
