last updated 09 May 2023

Claire Wilson is a freelance illustrator and surface pattern designer, originally from Oxfordshire but now working from her small home studio in Cumbria, on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

title

With over 14 years’ experience, Claire has created designs for a wide variety of products – including home textiles, dinnerware, stationery and gifting to name but a few. She graduated from De Montfort University in 2007 and began her creative career as a homeware product designer for Next. She joined the world of freelance in 2012 and set up her own design business, focusing on surface pattern design and illustration. Her love of drawing began as a little girl when she would spend hours colouring in and making cards for loved ones. Her creative process begins with messy pencil scribbles that are then transformed into full colour illustrations on the computer with lots of lovely little details.

When she’s not busy colouring in, she can be found exploring the Dales and the Lakes with her partner and cocker spaniel, on foot or in their trusty campervan. Failing that, she’s probably sat on the sofa knitting chunky jumpers with a brew and a piece of cake.

Here’s what Claire’s agent Jo Astles said about working with her:

“Working with Claire is a true delight. Her impeccable design skills and attention to detail bring a unique and captivating touch to every design she creates. Claire’s passion for her craft is contagious and her commitment to delivering top-notch designs is unparalleled.”
