Syd lives in Brooklyn with his wife who is a puppet maker and painter.
He was born in Iran during the 8 year long Iran-Iraq war and spent most of his time indoors drawing pictures from his favorite movies and animations. That sense of visual storytelling lead him to start his career as a storyboard artist for feature films at the age of 18. He then continued directing animations and making graphic novels. He works both in digital and traditional paper and ink. He draws inspiration from dark and magical realism in literature and his visual style is moody and the scope of his compositions are very cinematic and grand.
He plays his Tanbur instrument after a long session of drawing.
