To celebrate reaching 50,000 followers on our Instagram, we’ve asked Bright author-illustrator Nicola O’Byrne to host a special ‘Draw This In Your Style’ competition! The competition will be running on the Bright Agency UK instagram, and Nicola is challenging artists to draw her famous grumpy crocodile from her Waterstones Children’s Book Prize Winning book ‘Open Very Carefully’. The winner of the competition will get a free online portfolio review with one of our fabulous Bright agents.

Bright is once again partnering with The Alligator’s Mouth children’s bookshop to celebrate the best books for 6-8 year olds. Ten books have been longlisted for The Alligator’s Mouth Award 2020, the second year in which it will recognise both authors and illustrators of highly illustrated children’s fiction. Themes of friendship, bravery and adventure all feature prominently in the line-up of books.

Here at Bright, we love to work closely with organisations like the Association of Illustrators. Not only do we get to go to fun events and meet lots of wonderful illustration folk, we also find amazing new talent through the AOI. Senior Agent Lucie Luddington first met illustrators Jack Oliver Coles and Rhiannon Parnis at an AOI event, and later they joined the Bright family. Here we ask the artist what the AOI means to them.

Last week we hosted our very first Oktoberfest where we brought the spirit of Frankfurt Book Fair to London. We gathered industry friends together in the Bright Emporium to eat pretzels, drink beer and look at some of our artists’ new portfolio sheets. Take a look at the highlights below!
