Skylar is from Wisconsin, and now lives in New York City with her husband, Tim, and the cutest 17-year-old cat, Alfie. Growing up she would practice drawing by copying illustrations from her favorite books, and knew she wanted to be a part of the exciting process of making books. She went on to get her BFA at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO, focusing on children’s books for her major.

The stories she most loves to illustrate have lots of adventure, are about girl power, and the magic of childhood. When Skylar isn’t illustrating in her studio (living room), she is making quilts, reading a great historical-fiction novel, or at the beach trying really hard to learn to surf.
