Robin Shaw

Robin Shaw is a BAFTA-nominated animator and illustrator known for his beautifully crafted adaptations of children’s books. His films include the multi-award-winning The Tiger Who Came To Tea and Mog’s Christmas.

Robin had a long and happy association with the late author and illustrator Raymond Briggs, which has led to him being entrusted with the continued animation and illustration of The Snowman.

He uses traditional media like watercolour and coloured pencils to create tender and deeply personal illustrations which frequently draw upon his love for his home city of London where he lives and works with his wife, the writer and animator Candy Guard, and their rescue dog Bernie.

Robin’s work often depicts the tenderness between parent and child, the complex emotions of fatherhood being a constant source of inspiration. Drawing for him has always been a question of seeing beauty in the everyday and the depth of feeling behind the smallest of gestures.
