Artwork by Kevin Ward

Born in Ottawa, now UK-based, Kevin has been a professional illustrator for over ten years. A love of learning and “play” led him to teach improv comedy in Montreal, animate music videos in Brazil, wrestle a storyteller’s goat in Ireland, run language-exchange comics workshops in Madrid and draw adventure stories from a London canal boat. Past collaborations span editorial, nonfiction, comics, maps, a queer musical fairytale, and interactive games.

Kevin illustrated “Alastair Humphreys’ Great Adventurers” for Big Picture Press, which won the Ordnance Survey Children’s Travel Book of the Year and the ALCS Educational Award and was long-listed for the Blue Peter Book Award. His picture book work has been selected for exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Kevin works primarily in ink, layering colour in a digital process inspired by printmaking. He has taught MA Illustration students at Falmouth University and designs experimental workshops to help people of all ages learn, dream and connect through writing, drawing and play.
