- Ensuring Bright artists are kept busy, clients are well-managed and that the team creates, secures and maximises the oppertunites that come through the agency
- Ensuring all artists are proactively represented across all platforms of external promotion, website, portfolio sheets, trade fairs, socials and face-to-face meetings
- Ensuring the company’s values are met and upheld
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic illustration agent who will manage UK business, engaging with publishers, showcasing artwork and cultivating key relationships within the publishing industry. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting our talent, possess outstanding interpersonal skills and have a keen eye for visual design. A genuine enthusiasm for the art side of publishing is key.
Client Sales & Contracts:
- Negotiating artist contracts, closing jobs and ensuring the best deals possible for the artist and retaining rights where possible
- Presenting artwork with an extensive knowledge of art styles within the UK
- Selecting images and creating lightboxes for both portfolio sheets and for client project enquiries
- Managing a variety of clients and their publishing lists and ensuring every project is managed through to completion
- Ensuring all paperwork and contracts are completed accurately and that projects are invoiced in a timely manner
- Ensuring project summaries are sent to our artists correctly and on time
- Ensuring all project schedules in Sparklebox are kept up-to-date
- Driving new business with innovative ways to approach new clients
- Creating and attending client meetings
- Driving a pipeline of new opportunities from core clients
- Regularly reviewing sales reports, including Sparklebox, Campaign Monitor and Finance/Client turnover
- Attending book fairs and exhibitions when required
- Attending face-to-face meetings within the UK
- Attending industry parties, events and award ceremonies when required
- Responding to enquires quickly and effectively
- Converting incoming leads to great commissions for our artists
- Collating marketing activity to showcase your artists’ work
- Ensuring all contacts and client data is correct on Bright’s central database (Sparklebox)
Artists:
- Scouting for new talent and being mindful of portfolio gaps
- Voting for new artists at acquisitions meetings
- Providing art direction and developing artist portfolios
- Reaching out to new artists once the onboarding process is complete. Ensuring you have a clear knowledge of their previous clients, house accounts and work history
- Regularly checking the artwork tagged on Sparklebox to ensure artist portfolios are as strong as possible, and that your artists’ website pages and portfolio sheets are as strong as they can be
- Regularly updating artist portfolio headers on the website
Marketing:
- Devising blog content that meets company objectives when instructed
- Inputting ideas for blogs and email campaigns
- Creating lightboxes for new email campaigns when instructed
