Sakroots–––launched in 2009 as a sister brand to the iconic, California-based The Sak lifestyle brand–––approached successful Bright Artist Jane Newland to collaborate on the creation of an exciting and unique artwork to translate into a print for their youthful art, fashion and nature-inspired bag collections.

Jane’s fabulously intricate designs–––typically inspired by the natural environment and characterised by a sense of intrigue, wonder and adventure–––are a perfect match for Sakroots’ ‘Worldly Spirit’ identity and stated mission to give something back in the shape of partnership with a number of nature-related charities.

Commissioning new designs from fresh and emerging artistic talent each season that celebrate values of peace and harmony in the natural world, the company chose Jane’s particular visual language to communicate the wild beauty of the Mojave Desert and create a Mojave Mirage print in support of California’s Mojave Desert Land Trust.

The resulting stunning print, in a gorgeous limited colour palette, has been used to create a truly eye-catching collection of bags and accessories that really conjure the fascinating desert landscape and capture a sense of wanderlust and passion for the environment - as well as supporting a worthy cause…and being achingly fashionable, of course!
