To welcome in the New Year, we are taking a peek at the fresh books publishing from our authors and artists this month. It’s an exciting start to 2021 for Ben Mantle, who has illustrated three titles in the list, including another of Lucy Rowland’s charming fairytale retellings, The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Book. And we’re thrilled to see Flavia Sorrentino’s illustrations in Delivery to the Lost City, P.G. Bell’s third offering in the fantastic The Train to Impossible Places series.

Merry Christmas, Gus (Macmillan Children’s Books) is the second book in the series by artist and author Chris Chatterton. From County Durham, Chris’s passion for illustration led him to pursue a career as a freelance artist and he now works on a wide array of projects, including the bestselling Ten Minutes to Bed series (Ladybird).

Born and raised in Surrey, Susie Gutch read English/Drama and History of Art at the University of Bristol followed by a PGCE at Bretton Hall, University of Leeds. She then taught English for many years, first in Sheffield and then in West London.

Written by TV presenter Cat Deeley and published by Random House Books for Young Readers, this touching tale encourages children to express themselves and enjoy the little moments. We caught up with Rosie to talk about her illustration process and how she deals with creative block.
