I was born in the wonderful city of Liverpool and then like most children I went to school. My favourite place was the art room, I always felt it was where I belonged. Lucky for me I had a wonderful art teacher called Miss Campbell who thought the same, and without her gentle encouragement I don’t know what I would have done.
I ended up doing a degree in Visual Communication, followed by a whole string of weird jobs. (where was Miss Campbell now?)
Eventually I arrived in London where I started loitering around publishing houses with a portfolio. I was developing my own story ideas by then and to my delight I got a couple of picture books published. I have been hooked on stories and image making ever since.
I enjoy playing with drawing and different processes and would love more time to do that. It keeps my practice alive.I am also trained in Shiatsu. That’s another story. Shiatsu is a beautiful thing (look it up) I have been practicing for nearly 20 years. I now teach part time in an FE college, illustrate books and practice Shiatsu. It’s a good life. Thank you Miss Campbell.
Publishing clients I have worked with: Walker Books, Faber and Faber, Bloomsbury, English Heritage, Anderson, Egmont, OUP, Barrington Stoke, Scholastic, Franklin Watts, Usborne, A&C Black, Tiger tales, Miles Kelly.
