Leanne Lewis

Originally from the UK, Leanne is now based in Aotearoa New Zealand. She loves to create storytelling-rich illustrations with warmth and tiny details that make both the characters and worlds she creates feel tangible and lived-in.

She takes inspiration from nostalgia, the way light can evoke feelings of comfort and magic, and human moments of humour and connection. Predominantly working digitally, Leanne also incorporates traditional linework into her process where possible, enjoying the spontaneity that hand and pencil create together.

When Leanne isn’t tucked away creating new characters in her home studio (also known as the “Hobbit Hole”), you’ll most likely find her swimming and pottering around the bays of Wellington’s rugged south coast, with a big flask of tea and her sketchbook.
