Claire is a freelance illustrator and surface pattern designer, working from a small studio in her home in the beautiful North West England county of Cumbria. After graduating from De Montfort University in 2007, she began her creative career working for Next as a homeware product designer.
She set up her own design business in 2012, focusing on surface pattern design and illustration. She has since worked as a freelance designer for a number of companies, including Dunelm and Avon, with her designs being used across a wide variety of products, including nursery and children’s bedding, home textiles, dinnerware, stationery and gifting as well as nightwear apparel. She finds inspiration everywhere, from simple everyday household objects to all things bright and beautiful outside.
Naturally drawn to illustrative styles and bright colours, she enjoys creating designs with lots of lovely little details. She has always loved to draw and often starts her process by hand drawing motifs or lettering, working in pen and pencil before scanning them into the computer and adding colour digitally.
When she’s not busy designing in her studio, she loves to go for long walks in the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District and also enjoys backpacking adventures around South East Asia with her other half.
