Artwork by Joelle Dreidemy

Joelle Dreidemy can’t remember the first time she started drawing, perhaps since she was able to hold a pencil! Her childhood was spent surrounded by books from Roald Dahl, Quentin Blake, Tony Ross and Ralph Steadman.

After completing her baccalaureate, Joelle studied arts at university in Strasbourg for four years and obtained a Master of Plastic Arts in 2001. She then moved to Lyon to study illustration, animation, and sculpture at the renowned Emile Cohl School, where she had the opportunity to learn from inspiring teachers like Yves Got and Jean Claverie. In 2004, she earned her diploma in illustration. She also enjoyed being a teacher at Emile Cohl for 13 years.

Now based in Montpellier, she works as an illustrator for French, English, American and Korean publishers and considers it the best job ever!

Full of energy, Joelle pursues various interests alongside illustration, which remains her greatest passion. She practices crossfit four times a week, writes children’s stories and lyrics for her rock band called Pilgrim where she plays bass guitar and sings. She also loves spending time with her two little girls and her loving cat Ciboulette.

One thing is certain; she loves her life and wouldn’t change it for anything!
