James Rey Sanchez

Sanchez emerged from a humble home in Santa Maria, California, where his love for art came from countless hours of reading comics, playing video games, and 90’s Saturday morning cartoons.

He graduated from the Academy of Art University, with a BFA in Visual Development, studies in Children Book Illustration, and top honors including Best of Show and Runner-up in the Annual Spring Show.

He has worked in the animations world with Class Dojo where he designed his own cartoon for the studio, and Illustrated the very popular and number one children’s book in Music: “Irving Berlin, The Immigrant Boy Who Made America Sing.”

“Sanchez’s handsomely stylized graphics offer visual depth that hints at the many stories unfolding within Berlin’s New York City community” Publisher’s Weekly

“James Rey Sanchez is the artist for the book and his work is a tremendous complement…The art reminds me of the stylistic animation from the U.P.A. and Warner Brothers studios of the 1950’s” LookingForAGoodBook.com

Sanchez’s art is very uniquely stylized and narrative driven. Focusing on the beauty of simplistic design that evokes emotion and begs for life. His art is vivid and unique and he looks forward to showing the illustration world what he can do with a fluid and unique style, expressive characters, and beautiful colors.
