Berta Maluenda

Berta is a Spanish illustrator living in her hometown, Zaragoza. She has a Bachelors Degree In Fine Arts, Master’s Degree in Drawing and Video Creation from the University of Granada and a Postgraduate Degree in Children’s Illustration that she studied in Barcelona.

In her illustrations she gives importance to humour and the charm of the everyday, also to the poetic and the unexpected, each in its right measure.

This is evident in her illustrated animals, where she finds a magical space to create funny stories. She thinks with a pencil in her hand, and works it out with digital techniques, although she loves to go back to the brush, watercolours, ink, and colour pencils.

She loves live music, listening to the radio, traveling, reading and going to the market. She is inspired by the people around her, and she also loves cinema, tea and animals.

She is currently working for children’s magazines as well as commissions and portraits. You can also see her at art fairs in Madrid, Barcelona and Zaragoza.
