As a child, Monique loved drawing, imaging and creating—so when it was time for her to select a career path, it was no surprise that her heart had been leading her toward illustration. She attended university in Cape Town, South Africa, studying animation and going on to work on the Disney Channel’s animated series Florrie’s Dragons.

Today, Monique is a full-time freelance illustrator with a passion for creating images that encompass light, life, warm and color. She is the artist behind many children’s titles including Ms. Rachel and the Special Surprise, Jojo Siwa’s chapter book series, as well as collaborations with American Girl, Little Golden Books, and other respected publishers.
