How to Opt-Out of Meta’s Artificial Intelligence Model training

last updated 21 August 2025

Updated 21st August 2025

At present, we are aware of Meta’s plans to roll their AI training out across accounts based in Europe. We are keeping track of when they are expanding into other territories.

Desktop use is reccommended for ease. To go straight to your Meta Account’s Privacy Centre, click here.

Opting out through Facebook (Desktop and Mobile)

Step One:

On Facebook, go to your profile page. In the top right corner, open the drop down menu and select ‘Settings & Privacy’. Then click ‘Privacy Centre’. If you are on mobile, click your profile picture in the top right of the homepage, click ‘Settings & Privacy’. Then click ‘Privacy Centre’.

Step Two:

On the main page of the Privacy Centre is a block of text. In the top line of the second paragrah is the blue, hyperlinked word ‘Object’. Click that.

Step Three:

Scroll to the bottom of the ‘Object to your information being used for AI at Meta’, enter your email address (that is associated with your Meta accounts). In the optional text box, feel free to write your own objection or use this one:

My pages are used as a portfolio to showcase my art and the agency that represents me. Any AI training on this page (and by association the possibility of achieving an artistic style but circumventing myself or my agent) serves in direct threat to mine and my agency’s business operation and employment.”

Selling and creating unique artwork is an artistic and career pursuit. I work in competitive industries that would be negatively disrupted by automated counterfeiting services built into the same platform that I use to advertise my work on.

Then, submit your objection.

Step Four:

Ensure you have received an email to your Meta-linked email addresses that confirm your Opt-out status.

Key Note: Make sure to do this with all your Meta linked Email Addresses.

Opting out through Instagram (Mobile)

On Instagram, go to your profile page. At the top right of that page, click the three horizontal lines, this will open ‘Settings and Activity’. Scroll near to the bottom of that page and click on ‘Privacy Centre’ (in the ‘More info and support’ section).

Step Two:

On the main page of the Privacy Centre is a block of text. In the top line of the second paragrah is the blue, hyperlinked word ‘Object’. Click that.
