Bright Agency Responds To New Areas of Growth

At a time when rights are becoming ever more valuable for artists and authors, and the formats in which their work is produced, shared and sold is evolving, The Bright Agency is delighted to announce that the Contracts and Legal department has grown substantially in both the UK and US.

Founder and CEO, Vicki Willden-Lebrecht commented “Bright has no limits on creativity for our artists. We have always invested to match that passion with robust and accurate contract negotiation and royalty collection on behalf of the brilliant people we represent. Expanding our infrastructure as we expand our agent pool is an expected step.”

Tahmeed Zaki has joined Bright UK as Contracts Manager from Disney, having previously worked at Hachette and Penguin Random House and will bring his invaluable expertise to our Licensing and Film and TV divisions.

Humayra Ahmed comes to Bright UK from Hachette. In her position as Contracts and Royalties Executive, Humayra’s understanding of the contractual publishing process and commitment to the care of authors and illustrators makes her a very welcome addition to the team.

Finally, in the UK Christina Borg joins Bright as Contracts and Royalties Assistant, supporting the department and based in the London office. Christina joins us from Heywood Hill. Prior to this she was Literary Desk Manager at The Sunday Times.

Jenna Brown, the current UK Contracts Manager has moved from Bright UK to Bright US in the first inter-agency transfer. Responding to the outstanding growth at Bright US in Publishing, Licensing and now within Design and Advertising, bringing Jenna’s experience and understanding to focus specifically on the US market has had an immediate impact.

Vicki added “What makes Bright truly unique is our people, and what makes Bright UK and US work is the total synergy between the two territories and companies, so we were thrilled to see our first transatlantic employee move.”

The new additions to the contracts and royalties team will add to the established insight and direction, allowing our artists and authors to rely on Bright’s extensive experience in contract negotiation whilst clients benefit from fair and consistent working practices.

Head of Contracts and Legal Sandra Tharumalingam Willmer to whom the team all report said “I am delighted to welcome Tahmeed, Humayra and Christina, and much as we will miss Jenna in the UK office, as we will continue to work closely together, retaining our close ties from a distance reflects the international nature of our work and the truly global reach of our artists and authors work.
