Skylar White was born in Miami, FL, raised in Wisconsin, and is now living in New York City with her husband and their cat. Her love for drawing started at a very young age and was graciously told by a teacher to keep a piece of paper close by so as to stop drawing all over her vocabulary tests. Growing up she would copy her favorite illustrations in her favorite picture and chapter books, and decided she wanted to be a part of the amazing magic of books. The stories she loves most to illustrate are of girl power, the specialness and beauty of childhood, and a good mystery.

She went on to get her BFA at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO, focusing on children’s books. When Skylar isn’t in her studio (table in her living room), she is working on quilts or at the beach trying to learn to surf.
