Sess is a children’s illustrator based in Paris.
After spending his childhood in Africa—surrounded by light, nature, and imagination—he moved to France and studied at the Atelier de Sèvres. He later embarked on his illustration career, driven by a constant desire for exploration and creative renewal.
Sess’s visual world is inspired by the great outdoors, animals, and adventure, but also by the small, everyday moments—like watching his daughter play in the park or observing pigeons squabble over a stale piece of bread. He loves capturing these simple, tender, and sometimes humorous scenes.
Always in motion, Sess enjoys evolving his style with each project, guided by curiosity and a need to keep things fresh.
While he primarily works digitally, he remains deeply attached to traditional media, filling sketchbooks with watercolors and gouache during his many family travels.
Among the little things that bring him joy: sending illustrated postcards to friends… and occasionally decorating his beard for a silly photo.
