“Superheroes Are Everywhere” makes the CALIBA-South Bestseller List

Mechal Roe discovered her love for art at the age of six, inspired by watching her mother create pastel portraits of friends and family. Fascinated by the creative process, she studied her mother’s techniques closely and began designing intricate paper Barbie houses, developing a distinct artistic style from an early age. She quickly realized that art was a powerful way to bring her imagination to life, a passion that led her to pursue formal studies in art throughout high school and college.

Mechal went on to become the author-illustrator of the Happy Hair book series, published by Penguin Random House, and the illustrator of the New York Times bestselling title Superheroes Are Everywhere, written by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Tragically, Mechal Roe passed away in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and inspiration through her work.
