Daniel is a Cumbrian-born illustrator based in West Yorkshire. Before jumping into freelance illustration full-time, he ran a co-working studio for creatives in Cardiff for two years. After some twists and turns, he now works from his home studio in the beautiful Calder Valley amongst some exciting and historic cities.
Science and history take up a lot of space in Daniel’s mind, whether it’s about space, dinosaurs or ancient history, and he loves learning about how just about everything works, which is evident in his work. Science communicators like Carl Sagan had a strong influence on him as a child.
Daniel aims to spark in others the same sense of wonder and joy of learning that he feels when finding out about new things and wants his work to help answer questions — What might feathered dinosaurs have looked like? How does the Space Shuttle work? How do we make electricity? – while still leaving room for more inquiry.
When not working, Daniel can be found tinkering with his model RC aircraft, taking long walks in the hills and forests, and occasionally taking flying lessons—aircraft are something of a lifelong fascination for him.
