Ruth Waters is a collage artist, illustrator and author. Her first expressions of creativity appeared at an early age - on the sitting room walls, kitchen floor… and the new sofa (she still avoids talking about this with her parents). Fortunately, she soon learned that paper was the way forward and hasn’t looked back since.
Ruth has written and illustrated several picture books. She is familiar with working with narratives and story lines and seeing the world through the eyes of a child. She enjoys working traditionally in collage and has recently began experimenting with digital techniques. Much of Ruth’s inspiration comes from her passion for colour, sense of humour and daily life with her children.
In a previous life Ruth worked in London’s theatre industry for 20 years. She lives in West Sussex underneath the South Downs with her husband and two children.
Shortlisted for the AOI’s World Illustration Awards 2020 in the Children’s Publishing Category with ‘Lost Dog’, development work.
