Katy started her Illustration career as a small child drawing on freshly emulsioned walls around the house! Her parents quickly dissuaded this medium and encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead.
Obsessed with drawing animals and telling stories, the idea stuck (the pencil was updated to an ink pot and pen in some cases) and after some lovely time at Art College and a degree in Illustration, Katy is now an illustrator based in Bristol, UK. Her recent picture book, Too Many Carrots, is a bestseller worldwide, and she continues to work both on greeting cards and writing and illustrating picture books.
“Hudson’s detailed and colorful artwork is sure to attract attention, and the animals are cuddly cute with expressive faces, especially Tortoise’s.” — Kirkus Review for ‘A Loud Winter’s Nap’ by Katy Hudson.
“It’s very easy to fall in love with a book purely from its cover illustration alone. We do this a lot, and sometimes it works out well - sometimes it works out terribly well!” — Publisher’s Weekly for ‘Too Many Carrots’ by Katy Hudson.
“In her first outing as author, illustrator Hudson (Animal Teachers) keeps her story simple: Bear longs to be a duck but discovers he’s better at being a bear. Her watercolor-and-ink artwork is polished, and her narrative voice engages from the start.” — Publishers Weekly for’Bear and Duck’ by Katy Hudson.
