My name is Sophie Campbell, and my design style is all about energy and conversation starters. I think story telling is an important part of design to transport the viewer into an interpretation of their own imagination.
I focus on drawing and sketching by hand, radiant colours, ambiguous and scattered combinations and try to promote joy through artworks. Coming from the Scottish Highlands I have always been inspired by the world around me, from wildflower meadows to the chunky cable knit jumpers I wore as a child. Moving to the city, Glasgow, I found even more inspiration in compositional photography and observational drawing. I love to observe and be inspired by my surroundings. There is colour everywhere, and once you see it, you begin to understand how saturated the world can be.
I paint, sketch and scribble to create mark making and carefully illustrated work. These elements all come together in a somewhat chaotic format at times, to show energy and positivity within the never-ending narrative of the piece. I have a maximalist essence but can also slow it down and appreciate the simpler route. My creative outlet is obvious within all aspects of my own personal life from clothing styles to interior, I like to be playful as I believe there is no age cap on inclusive, playful design!
