Gillian Blease is a freelance illustrator based in London, UK. She studied Fine Art at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and worked as an artist for a number of years until the introduction by a friend to computer graphics led to a change of direction and a new world of briefs and deadlines. Clients include The British Council, Random House Publishing and BBC Worldwide. She is a weekly contributor to the The Guardian Newspaper.
Over the past couple of years Gillian has begun to explore her love of pattern design (regarding it as the perfect combination of discipline and freedom) and considers this strand in her career an antidote to the current affairs and contemporary issues she illustrates on a daily basis.
