C.E. Downes (Chris) grew up watching 80s and 90s cartoons in West Hartford, Connecticut, where he developed a love for classic animation and dreamed of becoming the first kid on Mars.

After studying Television Writing at New York University, Chris spent nine years in Los Angeles, where he wrote briefly for a Cartoon Network show before transitioning over to the art and animation side of the industry.

As a self-taught illustrator and animator, Chris has done work for clients such as Netflix, History Channel, Amazon, A24 (At Home with Amy Sedaris, Ziwe), and more. He is a master at mimicking various looks and genres, with particular love for Hanna Barbera and mid-century animation styles. He works primarily in Photoshop and After Effects, using a blend of traditional and modern techniques to achieve a classic or vintage look while maintaining a high degree of speed and flexibility.

Chris currently lives in Saratoga Springs, NY with his partner Sydney and their dog Cookie.
