Georgie McAusland

Georgie is a British illustrator based in Barcelona and London. After studying for her BA in Illustration at Kingston she then completed a MA at Camberwell and spent the time experimenting with printmaking and refining her craft. She uses a variety of processes including monoprinting and ceramics but mostly works with gouache and ink.

Drawing inspiration from historical events and exploring her surroundings, Georgie finds subject matter for personal projects in museums, galleries and walking around cities, where location drawing plays a huge role. She loves to tackle subject matter which is a bit weird and wonderful and enjoys playing around with perspective and scale, reimagining macabre or unusual objects and situations into looking funny and cute.

Some of her previous clients have included Penguin Random House, for whom she created a book cover for the Louis de Bernieres book ‘Labels & Other Stories’, an installation at The Queen’s Gallery for an exhibition of the galleries collection of Canaletto, designing a mural and additional objects that were used as learning aids for children and Cicada Books with whom she developed and illustrated her first book “Motherlode” a journal for new mothers.
