Indie Book of the Month | Laura Hughes

Bright Artist Laura Hughes has kicked off 2020 with a brilliant new picture book. We’re delighted that The Bear Who Did has been picked as the Indie Book of the Month for January by the Booksellers Association Children’s Bookselling Group. Written by Louise Greig and published by Egmont, it’s a rollicking rhyming story about two bears, a jar of honey and the consequences of not sharing…

Kirsty Woods, member of the BA Children’s Bookselling Committee which selected The Bear Who Did said, “Laura Hughes’ illustrations are, as ever, completely charming, instantly accessible for children and demand pouring over on every page. On the book’s selection, Laura said, “I’m delighted that The Bear Who Did has been chosen as children’s book of the month. Laura is an award-winning illustrator; her picture book There’s a Pig Up My Nose won the Oscar’s Book Prize 2018, she has also been nominated for The Kate Greenaway Award twice, in 2016 and 2019 as well as being shortlisted for the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Awards 2015. Additionally, she illustrated the bestselling title We’re Going on an Egg Hunt published by Bloomsbury.

As well as illustrating books for young readers, her artwork has featured on greetings cards, gift-wrap, packaging and stationery all over the world.
