Gianna Ruggiero

Gianna Ruggiero is an illustrator, concept artist, gamer, and lover of a good story. She was raised on water ice and pretzels in South Philadelphia and went to an arts high school before heading off to Ringling College of Art and Design, where she studied Computer Animation. After graduating, she headed to California to intern at Pixar, where she worked on Toy Story 3 and Cars 2. She then found her way to Laika in Portland Oregon, and worked on the stop-motion films ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls. From there, she worked in Boston on video games, one of her first loves. Now she is AD for an animation company in San Francisco.

Gianna’s art is mostly inspired by everyday life and moments, with an emphasis on diverse characters and creatures. She works mostly in digital but likes to mix real world materials and media into her work like pencil, bark, and dirty paper to add a nice texture. She also loves to use pencil and watercolor from time to time.
