Margarida Sampaio is a Portuguese illustrator based in Coimbra. She studied Graphic Design in Porto, Portugal, and soon after started to work as a freelance artist. She believes she’s the girl The Beatles sing about, that she lives in the sky with diamonds, except she’s not Lucy. But she definitely has kaleidoscope eyes and that’s how she likes to see the world: in a colorful and playful way. Margarida draws everything digitally, but all her work starts on paper — that’s the easiest way for her to develop her ideas. She’s been working with book publishers, illustrating children’s books, and that’s what she sees herself doing in the future. Being an illustrator is a dream come true. One in which she is able to bring to life everyone’s child within, along with all its joyful things. When she’s not drawing, you can find her reading, listening to music, or watching movies, always in the company of her pets.
