Bàrbara Alca is an enthusiastic Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Art Director based in Barcelona.

She’s started drawing when she was a child and hasn’t stopped soo far. As a vulnerable child without a normative childhood, she found refuge on her drawings and her journals, in which she drew and wrote about her favourite fiction characters.

Once she finished her Design studies, moved to Barcelona and explored the comics field with self-published fanzines mixing her illustration and writing skills. Her professional illustration career srarted in 2016 with her illustrations for Little People, Big Dreams series (Alba, Quarto). After that, she started participating in other editorial commisions surrounding Feminism while she was working on her graphic novel, Pizzachica y las Lloronas (Sapristi), which was published in 2019.

In 2020 she explored animation in a self taught way as well, and started getting commissions on that area. Her clients so far has been El País, Ajuntament de Palma, El Jueves, Planeta, Bacoa, Primevideo, Joyclub, JBL, among others.

She has a dark sense of humour, but also loves lace and bows which results in an eclectic style.
