Gabriella knew from very early on in her life that she wanted to be an artist. Growing up in the East of England with glamorous parents who loved beautiful things, paintings, clothes, flowers and colour had a great impact, and she developed a love of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting.
After studying Illustration at Kingston University, Gabriella embarked upon her artistic career, painting illustrations for romantic fiction, ‘How to paint’ books, creating decorative editorial pieces, and designing greeting cards. She went on to spend a number of years as an in-house artist for a major supplier to high street stores of Christmas cards and wrapping paper. Additionally, she worked for a couple of years as the Product Manager for a franchise greeting card company - so has experience commissioning art, too! Consequently, Gabriella is a very versatile artist, benefitting from over twenty-five years’ experience in a variety of media.
Colour, light and emotion are inspiring to Gabriella, whether she’s creating an atmospheric painting or a cute character. Her work is expressive and colourful, but she also loves to draw in black ink to create designs - for example, lettering that can be vectorised into colour yet still retains a very fluid style. Pattern is also something Gabriella enjoys using in her work - it might take the form of a floral background to a painting, or a repeat pattern assembled from her illustrations in Photoshop.
Gabriella now lives near the North Norfolk coast with her husband and two children.
